The United Nations estimates that one-third of all food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted, and that the wastage has significant impact on climate, water, land and biodiversity (2011). This two-part series delves into food waste issues in Washington, D.C. and in Seoul, South Korea, and examines measures taken in each city to address the problem, consumer behaviors, and disposal systems.
